ANNUAL REPORT DESIGN
Switchboard Victoria
The theme for the Switchboard Victoria annual report design was set around ‘Building Solidarity’ – with a focus on how the organisation works with and supports the intersectional LGBTIQA+ community it is part of.
The Brief
Switchboard has a strong history of supporting the Victorian LGBTIQA+ for over 30 years. Over this time, the annual report has become a key resource for capturing the stories of their work and the community around the organisation. The design of the 2025 annual report needed to capture the heart and warmth of the organisation to connect with the volunteers, staff and broader community that are part of the organisation.
The Design
Creating an annual report with a sense of solidarity and collaboration required a colour palette and imagery that would feel warm and inviting. The design for Switchboard has used an illustrated style for the last eight years – we’ve worked with this style to create a sense of connection through unique images that are created for the organisation in collaboration with the program teams.
For the theme of ‘Building Solidarity’ we wanted a set of imagery that could capture moments of community working together. A set of illustrations were created that showed people creating a quilt together. The idea was a reflection on the HIV Memorial Quilts – remembering community members lost to HIV and AIDS, as well as the embroidery of ribbons as part of the Switchboard Remembering Rainbow – to remember community members that have been lost to suicide.
The Impact
The annual report while dense in content and information invites community and key stakeholders to understand the organisation and the work over the last 12 months. This is a key resource for the organisation.
